Heron's Head Eco Center

At the site of a capped abandoned dump next to the Bay we designed and gained permits from the City of San Francisco for the first wastewater treatment system in San Francisco. We worked with the city's Public Health Department and the Regional Water Quality Control Board. The treatment system is all indoors and consists of a recirculation textile filter followed by a surface constructed wetland, which is then pumped to drip irrigation fields to irrigate native plants. The system serves as an educational tool for green reuse of wastewater.
